Meet Dr. Michael Lau – Your Trusted Dentist at Pacific Smiles Dental Melton

Dr. Michael Lau is a highly skilled and compassionate dentist with over a decade of experience, offering his expertise to the Melton community at Pacific Smiles Dental. Dr. Lau routinely performs crowns and bridge work, endodontics, periodontics, and basic cosmetic cases. He is a strong advocate for minimally invasive dentistry, using adhesive principles to preserve tooth structure and enhance the longevity of treatments.

Dr. Lau graduated with Commendation from the University of Glasgow in 2016. He also holds a Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from Edinburgh (2017-2020) and is currently completing a two-year Certificate in Clinical Dentistry (Eduqual Level 7). His clinical interests include improving the function and aesthetics of worn front teeth with composite bonding, ceramic overlays, Maryland bridges, and Hall crowns, a technique he uses to protect baby teeth without injections, ensuring greater comfort for younger patients.

Dr. Lau’s career spans three years of service in the UK, where he worked across NHS, private practice, and general hospital settings as a Senior House Officer. He moved to Melbourne in 2020 to reunite with his wife and has been an integral part of the Pacific Smiles Dental team ever since.

Dr. Lau speaks basic Cantonese and chose to practice at Melton to give back to his local community. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys cycling, badminton, and spending quality time with his wife and two young daughters.

His favourite part about being a dentist is building long-term relationships with his patients, watching them grow, and seeing his work stand the test of time. Dr. Lau’s tip for a healthy smile: “Spit your toothpaste as much as you want, but don’t rinse your mouth, as toothpaste can protect your teeth.”
