Starting with a new dentist in Indooroopilly can feel a little daunting. I want to walk you through exactly what happens when you visit us at Pacific Smiles Dental Indooroopilly, so you know what to expect from the moment you arrive.
We’re located inside Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, which means parking is straightforward. The centre has plenty of undercover parking and you can walk straight through to reach us, we’re on level one, right near ALDI.
Our location is a genuine convenience, especially for families juggling school pickups or anyone fitting a dental appointment into a busy workday.
Whether you’re coming from Taringa, St Lucia, Toowong, Chapel Hill, Kenmore or anywhere else across Brisbane’s Inner West, we’re easy to get to and there’s no scrambling for street parking or worrying about paid parking running out while you’re in the chair.
I’m sure you have a lot of questions, so let’s start with the five questions that as a dentist that I get asked the most.
Q: Will my visit to the dentist hurt?
Most first visits involve no treatment at all. It’s an examination and a chat. So, you won’t feel a thing.
Q: How long will my dentist appointment take?
Allow about an hour. In this time, we will cover your dental health history, the examination and any x-rays if needed.
Q: Do I need to bring anything to see the dentist at Pacific Smiles Indooroopilly?
Just your private health fund card if you have one, also, on arrival you will need to fill out a dental medical history questionnaire.
Q: Will I need dental x-rays?
Possibly. Digital x-rays help us see between teeth and under fillings where the eye can’t reach.
Q: What if I haven’t been to the dentist in years?
No judgement here. I see it often. We will start fresh and work out the best path forward together.
To make the most of your first visit to Pacific Smiles Indooroopilly, we’ll ask you to complete a medical history questionnaire beforehand.
You can download it, fill it in at home, and bring it along. If that doesn’t suit you, just arrive ten minutes before your appointment time and complete it at reception.
It helps us understand your health history before we get started, which means your appointment runs more smoothly and I can focus the time we have together on what actually matters for your teeth and gums.
Our Pacific Smiles reception team will welcome you into our modern, comfortable practice. When I’m ready for you, my dental assistant will come and get you from the waiting room and bring you through to the surgery.
We’ll introduce ourselves properly, and I’ll take a moment to ask if there’s anything specific on your mind, whether that’s a sore tooth, something about the way your smile looks, or just a general check-up after a long gap between visits.
There are no silly questions here, please ask whatever is on your mind and there’s no judgement either.
I’ll carry out a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, tongue and the rest of your mouth. We use digital x-rays when needed because they’re the only reliable way to see what’s happening between teeth or underneath existing fillings.
I may also recommend a scale and clean to remove any tartar build-up, along with a fluoride treatment to help protect against decay and reduce sensitivity. These are simple, preventative steps that make a real difference over time.
If anything does come up during your check-up, you won’t need to go elsewhere. We offer a full range of dental treatments right here in Indooroopilly.
For patients with damaged or worn teeth, we can discuss dental crowns to restore both function and appearance. If you’ve been putting off replacing a missing tooth, dental implants are a long-term solution worth understanding properly, and I’ll take the time to explain whether they’re right for your situation.
We also offer Invisalign for patients who want to straighten their teeth without traditional braces. It’s a popular choice for adults, and the results speak for themselves.
If you’re experiencing significant tooth pain, I’ll assess treatment and explain what that actually involves, so it’s not something to be feared.
Every treatment recommendation comes with a clear explanation, a written plan and transparent pricing. Nothing is rushed and nothing is done without your full understanding.
At the end of your appointment, I’ll sit down and go through everything I found with you in plain language. If treatment is needed, I’ll explain your options and put together a personalised treatment plan that covers what’s involved, how many appointments you’ll need and the associated costs.
If everything looks healthy, we’ll book you in for your next six-monthly check-up or send you a reminder when it’s due. My dental assistant will bring you back to reception for payment, health fund claiming and any follow-up bookings.
